Officiant (One Performing the Ceremony), AKA "Marrier" 🙂
Rev. Amy Pereira, Associate Minister

Amy Pereira discovered love for creating personal wedding ceremonies during her own engagement, over 15 years ago, when she and her then-fiancé explored ways to creatively incorporate a number of faiths and traditions into their own ceremony. Amy believes that all life is sacred and has deep appreciation for working with those of diverse cultures and backgrounds with varied traditions and beliefs. She maintains her own inner peace and serenity through yoga, meditation, Reiki, retreating along her riverfront home and hiking trails of the Pacific NW with her husband and son, and is passionate about world travel, holistic nutrition, and environmental science. Amy considers it an honor to be with couples and families during significant life moments and brings to her work with Circle of Light Ministries a grounded sense of wisdom and lighthearted joy.

Meet Our Founding Minister/Officiant
Wedded Your Way was started in 2002, by Rev. Leah Light, the Founding Minister and Director of Circle of Light Ministries, LLC, located in the Tigard area of SW Portland. She has performed weddings for nearly two decades now.
Leah is currently enjoying semi-retirement, though still keeping her hand in conducting meditation circles and performing the occasional wedding, not to mention helping her husband run a bed and breakfast and hemp farm in the Newberg area.
The Story of How Wedded Your Way was Born, By Rev. Leah Light
I was inspired to begin Wedded Your Way in 2002 after attending my best friend's wedding in Las Vegas. She had wanted something completely different than her ultra religious first wedding; hence her choice of a hotel chapel in Vegas for the second time around. My friend and her fiance specifically asked their officiant for a ceremony minus religious elements. Alas, he apparently could not refrain from throwing in at least one scripture reading. Unfortunately, the one he included was the very same verse quoted at my friend's first wedding. That's all she needed on her wedding day--a reminder of her failed first marriage.
For me, an idea was born. Why can't a couple have what they want and ask for on their special day? Whose wedding is it, anyway? I have strived ever since to make sure there are no unhappy surprises in a couple's ceremony. I will honor their wishes, whether they want religious or secular, spiritual, nonreligious, special cultural elements, or perhaps a mix of all the above. I help them find common ground when their backgrounds differ, and to unite families who embrace differing faiths. We will work with you to create the celebration your two hearts desire.
Performing wedding ceremonies and other rites is my true heart's calling. I enjoy finding the common denominator of love to define a couple's day, bringing families together for this most important of all occasions. While we can and should celebrate our differences, what we have in common is far more important than what divides us. That underlying principle is what I try to bring to every ceremony.
I feel comfortable and confident officiating most any kind of wedding, including for a gay couple. There are only a few weddings I won't do. Please don't ask me to jump out of a plane, and don't ask me to write vows that include the "O" word, as in Love, Honor, and "Obey." Otherwise, please bring your ideas to our initial meeting, which is free and without obligation, and together we'll find the words and tone that will enable you to be Wedded Your Way.
Warmest Blessings,
Rev. Leah Light
